A Sunday Children and Youth RE Snapshot

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Our religious education learning is organized by exploring spiritual themes across the age span in and outside of worship. These spiritual themes rotate every three years.  This year our themes arePurpose, Letting Go, Freedom, Beauty, Beloved Community, Prophecy, Yearning, Imagination & Humility.

Infants thru to 35 months

 

Preschool

 

Spirit Play Montessori-based learning for 3-year-olds thru to and including 5-year-olds not yet in Kindergarten

 

K-5th

 

Sacred Spaces Workshop Rotation multi-age groupings K-2nd grade and 3rd thru 5th grade

 

6th / 7th

 

Middle school students will learn about their values and connections to Unitarian Universalism.

 

8th

 

OWL Our Whole Lives is a sexuality education program emphasizing factual information, values, healthy relationships, and sound decision making. 

9th-12th

 

High School Youth Group Using a small group ministry model that creates a trusting environment for sharing significant aspects of teen life and spiritual development.

Childcare

 

 

Childcare Infants through to 59 mos. (5 yrs).  Aspects of Spirit Play are incorporated here.  

 

K-5th Grade

 

Sacred Spaces is a multi-age groupings K-thru 5th grade

 

6th -12th

 

 

Small Group Theme Ministry follows the monthly congregational themes and offers reflection and hands on learning in small groups.

9th Grade Coming of Age an in-depth class in addition to youth group explores identity and belief ending in creation of belief statements.  Must enroll by June 1.


10th-12th

 

Senior High Our Whole Lives (OWL) Sexuality and Values Education begins in January. The class will discuss in depth issues related to human sexuality and values.  Permission from parents is required for this class, and parents or guardians must attend an orientation or meet with the instructors.
